Water restored to Bury St Edmunds homes as engineers continue to repair burst main under Moreton Hall Interchange flyover
Anglian Water is repairing a burst main under the A14 Moreton Hall Interchange flyover in Bury St Edmunds.
Drivers are being faced with delays on the A134, by junction 44 of the A14, after reports of flooding earlier this afternoon.
Police had closed parts of the road while initial investigations were carried out by engineers, who are currently on the scene.
An Anglian Water spokesperson said: "We are currently repairing a burst water main under the A14 Moreton Hall Exchange flyover by Sainsbury’s on Bedingfeld Way in Bury St Edmunds.
"Our engineers have isolated the burst and water supplies have been restored to customers.
"One lane of the roundabout at Bedingfeld Way and Symonds Road is closed, however traffic is free flowing. We’d like to thank our customers and road users for their patience while we carry out this emergency work.”
Abbots Green Academy, in Airfield Road, was forced to close as a result of the lack of water supply.
A message sent to parents said: "Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances we currently have no running water due to a water fault.
"This means that since 12.30pm there has been limited access to water or toilets.
"Whilst this has been reported to Anglian Water as an urgent concern, there is no timescale given to a solution.
"With cleanliness, pupil and staff wellbeing as our main priorities, we therefore have no option other than to close the school this afternoon."
