St Nicholas Hospice call for volunteers to staff Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall charity shops

More volunteers are needed to staff the St Nicholas Hospice Care charity shops which open on Friday, June 19.

The charity, which supports people processing death and grief across west Suffolk and Thetford, will reopen its shops in Barton Road, Bury St Edmunds, and Mildenhall with plans to soon open others.

Karen Sainty, head of retail, said the hospice would like to hear from anyone who is able to give their time as a retail volunteer.

“Our shops rely on the dedication of their volunteers, who give their time and skills so generously," she said. “At the moment many of our volunteers are shielding and this has left a huge gap that we are trying to fill. If anyone has any time that they could offer to our shops we would be most grateful."

The charity said it can be flexible for different needs and would welcome those who could only commit for a short time, including those on furlough.

Shops will implement social distancing measures.

Other St Nicholas Hospice shops are in Sudbury, Newmarket, Haverhill, Brandon, and Long Melford, as well as Hardwick Parade in Bury St Edmunds.
