The Greyhound pub in Chevington, near Bury St Edmunds, sells after more than a year on the market
A popular village pub near Bury St Edmunds has sold after more than a year on the market.
The Greyhound, in Chevington, was sold by Sidney Phillips last month to an independent buyer from the Essex area, who the firm claimed has significant experience in the industry.
The local, which acts as both a bar and restaurant, is the only pub in the village.
It is famous for its carveries and a menu of pub classics.
The Greyhound had been listed for sale since at least the middle of last year.
The building contains five first-floor bedrooms, a detached letting annexe, large car park, a garden, a kitchen and three main trading areas.
Zaine Lamont from Sidney Phillips handled the sale, and confirmed the property had been listed for more than a year by a different agent.
Zaine said: “I’m extremely delighted to finalise a sale on The Greyhound.
“I want to commend our clients and outgoing operators for establishing such a successful business with its above average profits, making it easy for us to find multiple interested applicants, this in turn meant we achieved a sale over asking price.
“Finally, I want to wish the purchaser all the best with the business, who I am sure with their extensive experience already within the industry, will continue to drive this popular public house and build upon its positive reputation.”
According to Sidney Phillips, the pub sold for £350,000.
