Sophie Houtmeyers, Skechers vice president distribution operations, said the centre was close to their main customers as well as the port of Felixstowe.

“The advantages of this region are that there are qualified workers and leaders available, and we have future possibilities to expand our distribution centre,” she said.

She added that the hub was 322,917 sq ft and could expand to 430,556 sq ft ‘giving us the opportunity to grow with our business in this key market’.

Skechers occupies one part of the warehouse and Carter Jonas is marketing the rest of it measuring 394,454 sq ft.

In November 2020, Suffolk Park developer Jaynic announced the Weerts Group, a logistics, real estate and motor racing company based in Belgium, bought more than 42 acres of land for the warehouse.

At the time, the developer said Weerts had bought the land to help a major fashion brand expand into the UK market.

Among those who have taken space at Suffolk Park are Treatt, MH Star UK Ltd, Unipart Logistics and Sealey.
