Updated: Wrench raiders threaten shop assistant in Badwell Ash

A shop assistant in a village store was threatened by men armed with wrenches who stole cigarettes this morning.

Police say two white men entered the village shop in The Street, Badwell Ash, at about 5am each holding wrenches. They threatened the shop assistant and left with an amount of cigarettes.

The one offender is described as a white man, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in tall, of a slim build, in his mid-twenties and was wearing light blue jeans. His face was covered with a piece of red material.

The second offender is described as a white man, about 5ft 10in tall, in his mid-twenties and had his face covered.

A silver Transit-style van was recovered from outside the shop.

The shop assistant was not injured during the incident.

Enquires are continuing today and police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw the two men. Calls should be made to Bury St Edmunds Priority Crime Team on 101 quoting ST/14/3368 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
