Updated: 17 fire crews at Elveden crop fire
Fire crews from as far as Wymondham and Woodbridge have been fighting a fire in the open near Elveden.
Norfolk Fire service say at one point there were 17 Norfolk and Suffolk fire appliances at or on the way to the scene, which is near Duke's Ride off the B1106 Bury Road, about a mile south of Elveden. Attendance is now being stepped down but fire crews are still damping down.
Fire services were called out at about 10.25am.
Elveden Estate said the fire started while a tractor was baling cut straw.
Suffolk Fire Service said crews had to deal with burning bales as well as the field and farm workers helped to create fire breaks to stop it spreading.
The area has large expanses of woodland and fir plantations and a Suffolk Fire spokesman said that made it important they ensured it did not spread to surrounding fields and that it is thoroughly damped down.
