A man has been taken to hospital after a two vehicle collision in Bury St Edmunds today.

The incident, which involved a Honda Civic and a Ford Transit van, occurred on Northgate Street at around 1.32pm.

Police, the East of England Ambulance Service and a volunteer clinical team from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) charity was mobilised to attend the scene.

A man, in his 20s, was treated for shoulder and neck injuries before he was transferred to hospital by land ambulance.

A female patient was also assessed at the scene by paramedics for what were believed to be minor injuries.

The road was closed for a short time but reopened at around 3pm.

A police spokesman also commented that the traffic lights near the incident had 'intermittent problems' and had been reported.
