Two offenders target house in distraction burglary in Holywell Row
Police are appealing for information after a distraction burglary in Holywell Row.
The incident took place between 7.15pm and 7.35pm on Friday December 12 at an address in The Street.
The victim received a knock at the door from a man claiming to be a police officer, who showed him a badge and said he needed to come into the house. Not convinced by this story the victim refused to let the offender in, but he pushed past him anyway and went into the property.
The victim followed the offender back inside and told him to leave, at which point he discovered there was another man in the living room, so he ran out and called to neighbours for help. Both offenders then fled empty handed.
The first man is described as white, aged 20 to 24 years old, around 5ft 6in, of slim build and with short dark hair. He was wearing a black ‘motorcycle style’ leather jacket and spoke with a local accent.
The second man is described as white, aged between 19 and 20 years old, also around 5ft 6in and of slim build and was wearing a scarf covering his head and lower face.
