Two men arrested on suspicion of arson with estimated damage to be in the region of £30,000

Police have arrested two men after a suspected arson.

On Saturday at 11.05pm in a rural location near Walsham Road, Langham, near Ixworth a number of straw bales were ablaze in what police suspect to be an incident of arson.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue attended the scene and dealt with the fire.

A total of ten fire engines attended the scene over a 48 hour period. Two fire engines dealt with the fire itself, where the others were issued for relief so that the straw bales did not re-ignite.

Between 500 and 750 tons of baled straw were burnt, leaving 30 per cent of the straw bale remaining.

The fire service stood down at 3.30pm on Sunday.
