TV programme helps to keep Ixworth Thorpe woman on her weight loss plan
If Kate Oakley fails to keep to her diet and exercise regime, people across the country will know about it.
Kate’s weight loss is not just between her and her bathroom scales in Ixworth Thorpe, it is being shown on Lorraine Kelly’s show on ITV.
The programme wanted volunteers for its New Year resolution ‘Change one Thing’ spot and Kate, 33, was the first person they chose from 500 who applied.
Kate recalled: “I wrote a scrappy email, telling them we were trying for a baby, that we had done tests and I needed to lose weight but nothing was working.”
Kate kept the news she had been chosen from her mother and sister until a week before Christmas, when a crew came to film a piece for the show
“I come across as bubbly and loud to my friends, but the personal stuff has always been difficult for me to tell,” she said.
The show teamed her up with Victoria Milligan, a personal trainer who lost her husband, a daughter and her leg in a speedboat accident in 2013.
“Victoria is amazing in terms of telling me what food to eat and sorting out my exercise plan, we have been in daily contact since the show, over the phone and email, to see how I am going and to keep checking in on me,” Kate said.
Kate admits that on past diets she has become bored after six weeks but being on the programme, plus Victoria’s guidance and Facebook friends, will provide the motivation she needs.
“I don’t want to go back on the show and find I haven’t lost any weight,” she said.
Kate also has her husband Chris to help her. She said:“He is my biggest supporter and motivator, he cooks my healthy meals instead of what he really wants, he looks after my needs and says the right thing at the right time,”
