Bury St Edmunds Turkish restaurant The Sheesh is under new management

A Turkish restaurant is under new management.

Ozan Kekecli, 27, took over the running of The Sheesh restaurant, in Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmunds, last month.

Mr Kekecli has previously being running a restaurant in London with his father Ali.

Both are now busy setting up the business after lockdown, and say they have been welcomed by customers.

“Everyone is very friendly in Bury and we are excited to be part of the town,” said Ozan’s sister, Elif Kekecli.

“Many have told us they didn’t know there was even a Turkish restaurant here, so we would like to build a strong connection with the local community.”

Ozan has friends living in Bury St Edmunds and was a visitor to the town, when he heard that the restaurant was looking for new management, earlier this year.

Sister Elif will be helping establish things and says the business is very much a ‘family affair’.

“We’ve already reintroduced a lunch menu and some home made desserts,” said Elif.

“We have the same head chef, Durhan who is great, and working in the kitchen with dad, at the moment.

“We are planning to modernise and decorate in time and looking forward to meeting more of the Bury community.”
