Trio launch new Bury St Edmunds hair salon

Three hair stylists whose futures looked uncertain when their salon closed have launched their own company in Bury St Edmunds.

Hair Design opened last week in St Andrew’s Street South and has meant that Donna Green, Joanne Page and Lynsey Buchanan can continue working together.

When The Studio in Churchgate Street closed, the three women were made redundant after working together for 10 or more years.

Donna said: “It was a bit of a shock and a bit of a panic about whether we could find another job.

“We wanted to stay together and setting up Hair Design has been a lovely journey.”

In 12 weeks, the three decorated their new studio which is situated next to the Hunter Club giving it a modern look.

Donna said: “Jo and Lynsey used to walk past it every evening and we saw the landlord and came and viewed it and liked it. It has been a huge adventure for all three of us to start out. We’ve done 10 years or more together warts and all and it is so nice we can stay together.”

The three have kept their clients who followed them when the previous salon closed.

Donna added: “We are grateful to our clients. We have had some lovely support from clients – cards and flowers and chocolates.”

Hair Design offers a full range of services, cutting, styling, colouring and foils as well as Balayage – a system of painting highlights into the hair.
