Tributes following death of prominent Bury St Edmunds businessman




The family of a man who founded a successful ceramics business in Bury St Edmunds have paid tribute following his death at the age of 84.

David Sore died on November 24 at Glastonbury Court Care Home.

In his younger years, he served in the RAF, but his ultimate calling was as a businessman.

He became well-known in the Bury community after establishing Abbeygate Ceramics in the 1980s.

This tiles firm worked with a number of local builders, architects and tradesmen, and Mr Sore led a successful career, heading the company for around a decade.

Mr Sore's daughter, Mandy Branch, said: "His humour carried him far in life, with many people adoring him. His life was full with joy, golfing, gardening, decorating.

"My dad was a true gent, and treated everyone with the utmost respect.

"He was a very proud man, and will be sadly missed."

Mr Sore's funeral has been scheduled for December 21.
