Travellers have pitched up on the outskirts of a Suffolk town opposite an Audi garage.

Caravans, campervans and a horse have been spotted on land off Lady Miriam Way, on the Moreton Hall Estate, in Bury St Edmunds.

Some of the vehicles are parked on a road next to headquarters of Treatt.

It is believed the Travellers pitched up on the unused land on Monday evening.

There are about 10 caravans and campervans on the site, alongside pick up trucks and a horsebox.

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said it was aware of the unauthorised encampment in Lady Miriam Way.

“We are working with partners and have visited the encampment and will continue to monitor the situation,” he said.

In a separate incident, Travellers left the Haughley George V Playing Field last week.

A clean-up of the area has now been completed.
