Bury St Edmunds Christmas tree damaged in car crash is replaced

A Christmas tree which was damaged after a car ploughed into it in Bury St Edmunds town centre has been replaced.

The new tree has been put up on Angel Hill after a Toyota Starlet hit its predecessor on Tuesday afternoon just hours after it had been put up.

A woman was taken to West Suffolk Hospital following the incident.

The tree, provided by Rougham Estates, was arranged by Our Bury St Edmunds Business Improvement District.

In a tweet this morning, chief executive Mark Cordell said he was 'absolutely delighted and appreciative' at how quickly Rougham Estates and West Suffolk Council responded and put up the new tree.

He said the trees in the town centre can now be decorated with lights by Target Illuminations today.

"Many thanks to all," he added.
