Bury St Edmunds Cattlemarket arc car park to be partially closed due to relining works
A town centre car park in Bury St Edmunds is set to have reduced capacity one day next week as relining work will be taking place.
The Cattlemarket arc car park, just off Parkway, which has 648 spaces on the surface with 217 underground, will be partially closed due to the works on Monday.
A West Suffolk Council spokesperson said: "This is a partial closure while the council carries out routine maintenance including re-painting lining, such as directional arrows, and hatchings.
"It is hoped this will be completed all on August 8 but if there are issues the contractor may need to finish off the following day.
"The underground car park will remain open throughout, and parts of the Cattlemarket Surface will also be available and there are alternative car parks including Parkway Surface or Parkway MSCP.”
This follows the news that up to 200 spaces at a Parkway multi-storey car park in Bury St Edmunds will be out of use from next month due to a £1.4 million maintenance project.
A third of the spaces in Parkway multi-storey may be out of use due to the work, which is due to last 36 weeks and start on September 5.
It will include repairs to the concrete structure as well as improvements such as colour coding the parking levels and the pedestrian walkways.
