Tiny Tim and ghosts of Christmas Past ready for festivities at Moyse’s Hall Museum
Moyse’s Hall Museum is gearing up for a month of festive fun which will run from Friday until December 23.
There will be a Christmas Fayre, a mini exhibition of Christmas gifts, past and present, and Santa will be visiting regularly to meet visitors.
The spirits from Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol will be on display at the Bury St Edmunds museum and there will be story telling, live theatre and seasonal refreshments.
Visitors to Christmas Past and Presents will be able to learn about the history of the festive season and the origins of Father Christmas from Saxon beliefs to the present day.
There is an atmospheric grotto where youngsters can travel back in time to make their requests to the white bearded gentleman and they can have their photographs taken with Santa by one of his elves.
Spinning Wheel Theatre will be performing A Christmas Carol at 7.30pm between December 1 and 5 while the museum will be displaying some of its artefacts to illustrate the kind of presents people may have given in the past comparing them with those of today. This is supported by Starlings Toymaster store in the town.
The museum will be open for the Christmas Fayre weekend from 10am to 5pm November 27 to 29, with storytelling, and an exhibition of Christmas through the ages.
