The youngsters of Tinkerbell’s Nursery had a Christmas surprise when they won a special £250 prize in a singing competition at the arc.

The Thurston nursery was among the schools, groups and individuals who took part in the Bury St Edmunds shopping centre’s ‘Arc the Herald Angels Sing’ competition with the public voting for the winners.

The first prize of £500 went to Howard Primary School. That was going to be the only prize but centre manager Colin Roberts was so impressed by Tinkerbell’s Nursery’s performance on the Sunday before Christmas that he decided there should be second prize so he added one.

Thanking the nursery’s singers, he said: “We really enjoyed having you here and you thoroughly deserve your runners up prize.”

They were not the only winners at the arc. A £250 shopping spree there has gone to Sarah Minns of Bury as part of a Spirit of Christmas campaign in which a random winner was chosen from hundreds of entries.
