Tickets for East Anglian Beer and Cider Festival in Bury St Edmunds to go on sale this week

Tickets for a popular beer and cider festival in Bury St Edmunds will go on sale this week.

Organisers of the 30th East Anglian Beer and Cider Festival have announced a limited number of first release tickets will be available from Wednesday.

These will offer discounts of up to 50 per cent and guarantee fast track admission to the event, which is from June 14 to 19 at St Edmundsbury Cathedral and proceeds will support local charities and good causes.

Festival organiser Martin Bate said: "Making the first tranche of tickets available reminds us the festival is now only four months away.

"We are so excited to be working with St Edmundsbury Cathedral again to stage what promises to be our biggest and best yet.

"We’re working hard with our charity partners including St Nicholas Hospice Care and other local fund-raisers, to ensure we have a record-breaking year befitting of our 30th anniversary.

"I urge everybody to get online and buy their tickets now while prices are low.

"We are already inundated with interest following our success last year when the first ever ‘Cathedral Beer Festival’ received national acclaim.

"We are clearly on the map as one of the country’s premier events of this type and I am anticipating it will be a sell-out.”

The festival will feature two tribute band evenings, a full entertainment programme and a final night send off with a firework finale.

To make the festival accessible for all, admission to the weekday daytime and Sunday sessions will be free.

The event, which last year raised more than £30,000, is organised by the West Suffolk and Borders branch of the Campaign for Real Ale.

Rev Philip Banks, Resident Canon Precentor at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, added: "Last year we were struck by the organisers' professionalism.

"To invite them back for their 30th anniversary is a logical step and another opportunity to showcase our wonderful cathedral again.

"It is a fabulous and iconic building. As CAMRA is offering free admission to many sessions anyone will be able to come and revel in its splendour.

"We look forward to welcoming this new ‘congregation’ through our doors once more."
