Thieves steal from West Row community garden charity
A charity is having to increase security at its community garden after thieves stole hundreds of pounds worth of wood preservative.
The Shed community garden in Jarmans Lane, West Row, had bought several nine litre tins of Cuprinol wood preservative to give a final coat to the large feather-boarded building that gives it its name before winter. It was stolen between 4pm last Friday and 10am Saturday after a padlock was broken off.
Trustee Ros Hamill said: "Many Friends of The Shed work extremely hard to refurbish the stable block.
"Neighbours are justly concerned about their own security and are keen for us to strengthen the boundary fencing asap.
"The Shed now has the expense of replacing the paint, installing battery security lighting and obtaining a 20-foot,vandal-proof storage container.
"If anyone can advise or help sort this, we would be very grateful."
