West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds welcomes Barley as a Pets As Therapy dog
A hospital has welcomed a new four-legged friend to boost the health and wellbeing of patients.
Barley has joined West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, as a PAT (Pets As Therapy) dog.
He enjoyed his first shift this week, said a spokesperson for West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust in a Facebook post.
His owner Victoria told the trust that 13-year-old Barley has been a great help and has brought lots of smiles to the wards.
She said: “He also goes and visits the Rainbow Ward and they’re falling in love with him.
“His favourite food after working so hard is carrots. His favourite activities are peaceful long walks or short strolls, depending on how he feels.”
The trust thanked Barley and Victoria.
