Thetford gym owner deflated after thieves take specialist protein powders worth £2,500
A Thetford gym owner said he feels he has ‘let his customers down’ after a ram-raid, in which £2,500 worth of specialist protein powders were stolen, prevented him from opening.
Thieves targeted the Body Concept Gym in Roman Way between 8pm on Sunday and 4.40am on Monday, driving a red coloured car into the front of the building and making off with around 80 tubs of high-quality powder.
Owner Rod Price, who discovered the scene of devastation at the gym when he came to open up on Monday morning, believes the thieves knew ‘exactly what they wanted to take’.
“Nothihng else was touched, the gym wasn’t touched,” he said.
“That reception area was all put in new about a year ago, we had a big refit and spent £80-100,000 on building alterations.
“I’ve run the gym for 18 years and I have never had any problems at all in the past. It has always opened at 6am in the morning, that is something I have always been proud of.
“I have a good customer base and I don’t want to let them down, and yesterday I couldn’t help but do that. That’s something that has let me down.”
Mr Price, who does not believe his stock will be retrieved, praised the support of his customers and staff.
“Everybody here is pretty upset about it, but they have been hugely supportive and members have been offering help,” he said.
“It is one of those things, it happens and you have to crack on and move forward from it.”
A spokeswoman for Norfolk Poice said no arrests have been made and enquiries are still on-going. Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
