St Edmundsbury Cathedral among Bury St Edmunds churches to be livestreaming as coronavirus crisis continues




Churches in Bury St Edmunds are providing live streaming for worshippers, now larger gatherings have been discouraged.

St Edmundsbury Cathedral and West Road Church are among the churches to be hosting services online due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Here are the details as to how you can join in.

The Cathedral and Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich have joined forces to offer twice daily opportunities to livestream worship.

Each day, morning prayer will be led by the bishops, the Right Reverend Martin Seeley, Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich or the Right Reverend Mike Harrison, Bishop of Dunwich, from the Oratory Chapel in Ipswich at 8.30am.

Evening Prayer is being livestreamed from the Cathedral at 5pm on weekdays and at 3.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays. A Eucharist Service will be streamed at noon from the Cathedral.

In addition, the Cathedral musicians are providing a piece of organ music each day with an accompanying reflection.

West Road Church, will be streaming services from 10.45am every Sunday on its website.

Church leader David Oakley said: "We are really sorry we can't meet this weekend, but we still want to get together and connect, so we are going to do church online. We are going to get together, we are going to read the Bible and we are going to interact."

West Suffolk Vineyard Church will also be live streaming on Sundays, with the broadcast beginning from 10.30am. Senior pastor Mark Williams said: "We want our Sunday mornings to look and feel familiar. We'll have some worship – with words for you to join in, we'll look at the Bible together, we'll invite the Holy Spirit and we'll pray.

"We've not forgotten our children and families and we're working on Kidzone & youth resources for you too. There will be an activities to do each Sunday morning, and further things to look at later in the week. We'll also send round links to kids worship and stories."

Vineyard is also continuing to operate its Storehouse project, which provides emergency supplies to residents in need.

Westgate Chapel is also livestreaming its services from 10.30am on Sunday mornings.
