A-Counting Genie based in Horringer, near Bury St Edmunds, celebrates five year anniversary

An accountant is celebrating five years of her finance firm which she launched a week into the first Covid-19 lockdown.

Philomina Crawford, 26, director of A-Counting Genie Ltd, marked the milestone last Tuesday, after growing her client base from three to 121.

Miss Crawford, of Great Whelnetham, near Bury St Edmunds, was given the opportunity to start the company with three clients from her previous workplace, which was winding down.

The mum-of-two said: “I had to spend £500 of my £900 pay packet to get all the subscriptions, licenses, DBS checks and insurances in place to start.

“The lockdown was 100 per cent not in the starting months or years plan or budget.”

As well as growing her client base, Miss Crawford had to navigate furlough claims.

“It was a whole whirlwind to face when I was only 21-years-old with a young family to look after and feed.”

She added: “I am always up for a challenge and will find solutions.”

After starting A-Counting Genie Ltd from her lounge, Miss Crawford moved to an office in Timworth Green and took on an employee.

Now she has three staff members and expanded to a larger office in Horringer late last year.

“We celebrated reaching 100 clients in November 2024 and currently are at 121 clients with many new enquiries weekly.

“The five years has been a journey and a half, learning so many life and business lessons throughout the way.

“I'm truly excited and proud to be celebrating five years of A-Counting Genie Ltd along with the amazing named staff members of team genie”, added Miss Crawford.
