Glasswells in Bury St Edmunds is installing this atrium to provide a classy new look
The impressive atrium which welcomes shoppers to Glasswells’ store in Bury St Edmunds is getting a new look.
The company is pressing ahead with the redevelopment of the Newmarket Road store, work which has been delayed by flooding and the coronavirus crisis.
Paul Glasswell, managing director, said the new look matched the company’s modern image.
He said: “Glasswells always strives to offer our customers the latest and most stylish furnishing options and it is essential that our environment provides visitors with the very best shopping experience to match this.
“We are a forward -hinking company and understand how important it is to move with the times and embrace change.
“Whilst the store will be given a fresh new look, our ethos of offering the widest choice, at the best value, with the highest customer service will remain the same.”
Craftsmen have been putting up and decorating walls for the new-look atrium ready for new displays to be put in place.
Finishing touches will be applied by the in-store visual merchandisers and designers.
Mr Glasswell added: “We will be integrating more technology to offer tech-savvy shoppers a more interactive and informative experience in our store.”
The work has been planned and managed by Sarah Norris, an in-house visual merchandiser and designer. She has taken on the project, having in 2016 overseen a £150,000 22-seat extension to the in-store Place to Eat Restaurant.
Mr Glasswell said: “Her experience of creating inspirational and attractive displays to enhance the customer journey, plus her passion for interior design made her the perfect candidate for the job.
“A colour palette of cool greys and mix of natural materials were selected to give a modern and airy industrial feel; a scheme which will run across the rest of the project.”
Updating the atrium is one more phase of a ‘massive programme of work’ at Glasswells which will go on to include the modernisation of the home accessories and lighting departments.
The first phase of the project began in 2017 with the removal of all flooring in the bed and bedroom department, and replacing it with luxury vinyl tiles.
