There are plenty of good places to live in Suffolk, there is no doubt about that.

Whether you prefer a busy town like Bury St Edmunds or the fresh sea air at the Suffolk coast, there is a place for everybody.

Lifestyle magazine Muddy Stilettos has created a guide of the top 250 places to live in the country for 2023, and here are the 10 areas from Suffolk which are featured.

Hadleigh

Hadleigh has previously been named as one of the best places to live in the country, and features in this year's guide.

Its 'cute picture-postcard countryside aesthetic' and independent shops were noted by Muddy Stilettos.

With plenty of pubs and nearby attractions, the town has plenty to offer.

Bury St Edmunds

A 'jewel in the crown of Suffolk' as some people like to call it, Bury St Edmunds is regarded as one of the best places to live in the county.

Whether you are visiting one of the town's many superb restaurants or the Abbey Gardens, there is all sorts to do here.

Described as a 'perfectly sized town' by Muddy Stilettos with everything on your doorstep, Bury is certainly a popular place to live.

Framlingham

The friendly East Suffolk town has plenty of charm to it.

Famous for being the home of Ed Sheeran and the 'Castle on the Hill', there is lot to Framlingham outside of Suffolk's most famous resident.

Whether it is visiting the excellent restaurants that have a good reputation, including one that features in the Michelin Guide, or taking in the ancient houses, there is a reason why people fall in love with the town.

Saxmundham

Not far from the famous castle on the hill and the Suffolk coast is Saxmundham.

Much like its neighbours, the historic market town has an array of shops, eateries and idyllic homes lining its streets.

Muddy Stilettos said: "It’s the stuff of countryside dreams – you can get everything from meat and bread to cakes, alcohol and flowers from local independents along the short, but sweet Saxmundham High Street."

Muddy Stilettos highlighted its close proximity to the Norfolk broads, as well as it being the 'fastest-growing market town' in the area.

Long Melford

It is easy to see why Long Melford is described as 'Suffolk's most attractive place to live' in the guide.

With independent shops and businesses lining the high street, coupled with quaint side streets filled with cottages, Long Melford is an idyllic place to live.

As well as being home to a National Trust site, the village is also home to Nethergate Brewery and Kentwell Hall at either end of the longest street in the country.

Southwold

Southwold remains one of the most popular places to live in Suffolk after it was named in a poll earlier this year.

While the coastal hotspot is well-known for being a tourist destination, its charm makes it an attractive place to live.

Muddy Stilettos said it is a 'pleasant place to live year-round' with its abundance of independent shops.

Sudbury

With its close links to history, Sudbury is deemed to be one of the best places to live in the county.

Muddy Stilettos said: "You get the best of both worlds in Sudbury, a historic town setting with amenities and transport links to the capital, but with the feeling that you’re right in the heart of the countryside thanks to miles of tranquil riverside walks right on your doorstep."

While the guide highlighted that it can often get overlooked by Long Melford, there is still plenty to do in the town.

Sudbury is home to Gainsborough's House, the Quay Theatre and plenty of popular restaurants, making for a vibrant town centre.

Aldeburgh

Another coastal town which features in the list is Aldeburgh.

Famed for its shingled beaches and stunning views, the seaside town is pretty and quaint.

Like other areas in Suffolk, its streets are filled with independent shops, while its fish and chip shops have been named among the best in the country.

Woodbridge

Woodbridge is popular with tourists and residents alike.

The surroundings of the estuary, historic cottages and gorgeous countryside make it a 'wonderful' place to live, according to Muddy Stilettos.

Sutton Hoo and the Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music are among the main attrations for tourists.
