Police called to Abbots Meadow Woolpit after teenager struck across face by a man in balaclava




Suffolk Police were called to Woolpit, near Bury St Edmunds yesterday evening after a teenager was struck across the face with an object.

A 19-year-old man was walking to the local shop through an alleyway off the Abbots Meadow estate at 6.15pm on Tuesday evening.

He was then approached by a male dressed in black, wearing a balaclava.

After a brief conversation the victim was struck across the face with an object, which police believe may have been a key.

He was left with a scratch across his face and did not have to go to hospital.

The teenage victim reported the incident to the police, and officers were seen in the area last night.

A spokesman Suffolk Police confirmed that the object was not a knife and at this stage an arrest has not been made.
