Teenager's photo of Great Livermere barn owl wins national award

A teenager’s photo of a barn owl in the Suffolk countryside has won a national award.

Mara Puiu, 14, from Romania, was on holiday in Great Livermere, near Bury St Edmunds, last summer when she captured the owl at its nest.

When she got home, Mara entered the photo into a national competition organised by Romanian wildlife organisation, Milvus.

Her image won the junior first prize which was awarded to her last week in Brasov.

Mara said: “I am very honoured to receive this award.

“It will be a motivation for me to pursue my passion in wildlife photography.”
