Teams at two sister surgeries in Bury St Edmunds and Brandon are celebrating after receiving a regional award for their work with patients and colleagues.

Swan Surgery, in Northgate Street, Bury, and Forest Surgery, in Bury Road, Brandon, were presented with this year’s East Anglia Faculty Practice Team Award at a dinner held by the Royal College of General Practitioners.

The teams were selected for the award based on patient commendations and their approach to providing care and support.

Dr Kirsty Reid, who is a partner at Swan Surgery, said: “It’s great to win the award and we’re all absolutely delighted.

“It has been tough in general practice and we do feel that we are all working really hard, so it was lovely to be recognised by the faculty.”

The surgeries were presented with a glass engraved plaque, a certificate and a cheque for £200, which is being put towards the staff’s annual night out at Christmas.

“It has been lovely for the team as there aren’t many opportunities across both practices to come together. It was nice for the two surgeries to be recognised as a whole,” said Dr Reid.

And both teams already have plans in place to further improve the services provided to patients across both areas.

“We want to continue to make sure that we are trying to engage with the community as much as we possibly can because that’s really important to us,” said Dr Reid.

“Winning the award just makes us want to really reach out where and when we can.”
