Summer fayre raises thousands

A fun-filled day of quirky games and activities has raised more than £4,500 for a school charity.

Donkey rides, Panning for Gold, Wheel of Fortune and Splat Splat were just some of the more unusual games at Abbots Green Summer Fayre.

More than 400 people attended the fayre, arranged at the Bury St Edmunds primary school by The Friends of Abbots Green, which raises money for children at the school.

“The weather was amazing and it was a fantastic fun-filled day with lots of activities for people to try,” said Sarah-Jane Middleton, chair of The Friends.

“There were lots of new games to try including a prize Wheel of Fortune and also Splat Splat, in which teachers and friends were locked in stocks and splattered with a wet sponge.

“We’d like to thank all the local residents and businesses who generously supported us with prizes and donations.”

Other activities included sports, a bouncy castle, swingboats and a barbecue.
