Suffolk Police decline to comment over reports officer has quit over alleged Bury St Edmunds assault by EastEnders Kat Slater actress Jessie Wallace near Flex nightclub

Suffolk Police have refused to comment on reports that a police officer who was allegedly attacked by EastEnders star Jessie Wallace outside a Bury St Edmunds nightclub has quit over how the case was handled.

The actress, who plays Kat Slater on the BBC soap, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and drunk and disorderly behaviour near Flex nightclub last June.

She allegedly attacked the police officer before she was arrested and was later released without charge after receiving a conditional caution.

However, The Sun has reported that the officer involved was disappointed that the star wasn't charged with assaulting him and allegedly failed to write him a letter of apology, which was a condition of her caution.

A Suffolk police spokesman declined to comment about the reports but said they reviewed an incident relating to a conditional caution given to a 50-year-old woman outside a nightclub in Bury St Edmunds and no further action will be taken.
