Suffolk Accident Rescue Service to host cricket fundraiser this weekend
Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) is hosting a cricket fundraiser as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations this Sunday.
The medical charity will host the event at Bury St Edmunds Rugby club in Southgate Green with no just a match between a 999 side and a Rest of the World team but also range of stalls, cricket teas, face painting, a barbecue, ice creams and a grand raffle with a top prize of a weekend countryside retreat for four.
Kim Turner, SARS fundraising coordinator, said: "It’s going to be a great day out for all the family and it is free. The cricket match should be great fun and there will also be over 15 local businesses selling a wide range of crafts and lots of other entertainment.
"We are hoping to raise lots of money on the day to support our volunteer medics, so do come down if you are in the area.”
Since it was set up in May 1972, SARS volunteer responders have been mobilised to nearly 19,000 incidents and helped save countless lives.
The charity receives no central government funding and relies on voluntary fundraising and donations to support its activity. For more information about their work, go to the SARS999 website.
