Art students at St Benedict’s Catholic School, in Bury St Edmunds, have created a stunning gothic altarpiece.

Under the guidance of teacher Dominic Billing, 27 students produced the feature to fit into existing artwork used by the school as a focal point for Benediction every Friday morning.

It was constructed from chipboard/cardboard paPiermache and contains ceramic images of saints .

Meanwhile, the four compartments of the main altarpiece contain large engraved tiles showing scenes from the life of Christ and the Garden of Gethsemane, crucifixion, deposition and the Resurrection.
