Stall helped to make Thetford people's vote count

A Thetford stall helped more than 3,000 people give their opinions on the town’s boundary consultation.

Rob Butler, chairman of the Cloverfields and The Willows Residents’ Association, who manned the stall, said: “With our 3,505 forms filled out, it shows Breckland that we we will not be pushed around,

“It is history in the making and people made sure their votes counted.”

Breckland Council is proposing to keep the town’s boundary the same, with a new development for 5,000 houses kept in the parishes of Kilverstone and Croxton.

On top of the forms filled in at the stand, it is believed more than 2,500 were filled in online and around 100 were handed in to the Thetford Town Council offices.

A Breckland Council spokesperson said: “We are currently collating and analysing the responses to the three Community Governance Reviews for Carbrooke, Great Ellingham and Thetford,

“The Community Governance Sub Committee meeting will be on August 8 at 10am at the Breckland Council offices.”
