Working in the motor trade for so many years we have had the pleasure of driving and owning various cars of all shapes and sizes, so when we started our business we already had a lot of knowledge to guide our customers with personal experience and industry expertise.
Our first cars were a VW Golf and the newly relaunched Mini Cooper back in 2002. The journey to where we are today, embracing the latest electric technology, has been very varied. They have included sports roadsters like the Mercedes SLK and Vauxhall VX220, to various family SUVs such as Nissan Qashqai and BMW X3.
However, in recent years we have wanted to experience and live with the latest technology to help advise our customers on what the differences mean to them on a day-to-day basis.
The first move to electric was to have the BMW 330e saloon, this car offered a 2.0 petrol engine with a plug-in electric battery with a stated range of about 25 miles, claimed average of 148.7 mpg and only 44 g/km CO2 emissions. This reduced emission gave advantages of lower company car tax, but living with it, the true economy of the car was clearly not 148.7mpg.
My daily driving and living with a plug-in hybrid car meant we were qualified to answer the increasing questions on this new technology and if it would work for our customers.
We are now committed to the move to electric with two Tesla Model 3’s in the company as the government targets 2030 as a deadline to selling only electric and hybrid cars.
The volume of enquiries and sales of electric vehicles are growing exponentially year on year and the consumer has many questions and concerns as to whether it would work for them.
We live with the full electric vehicle and have been through the process personally from sorting the charging units at home and at work, planning a longer journey with on route charging, using the new apps to help and generally living with an electric car on a day-to-day basis.
We have this experience to help and pass on advice to anyone thinking of leasing a new electric or hybrid car.
By the way, I have to say that we love them, the way they drive and all the gadgets that come with them. And they are cost effective too.
