Stunning aerial shots of Suffolk Vintage Ploughing Society's annual match near Bury St Edmunds
On Sunday, tractor enthusiasts from Suffolk and across England converged on Ampton Hall Estate in Ingham for a vintage ploughing match.
It was the 13th edition of the annual event, hosted by the Suffolk Vintage Ploughing Society.
Participants were drawn from across Suffolk, as well as from Leicestershire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Norfolk.
One of the day’s champions came from Dorset.
Some had anticipated poor weather, but these predictions were proven incorrect on the day, and members of the public were given the opportunity to enjoy the proceedings up close.
A variety of modern and classic vehicles were taken along for the event and their owners competed for various titles.
Organiser Paul Rowe is among the founders of the match.
He said of Sunday’s event: “We had 68 participants this time. We had our own burger van, we had everything - everything we needed.
“We had one or two of the top ploughmen in England. There was very good ploughing, because of the soil.”
He added: “We’ve always had a lot of luck with the lighter land around this area, which only gets tilled ready for sugar beet.
“In the ploughing world, a lot of ploughing matches are going to be for sugar beet - where they have to plough fairly deep.
“Ampton Hall Estate is a big place, and the management have helped us immensely by allowing us to use the good land.”
