Bury St Edmunds Secret Distillery bar set to launch this weekend in Short Brackland
A new ‘secret’ bar is set to launch in a Suffolk town centre this weekend.
The Secret Distillery will launch on Saturday at 6pm at 3 Short Brackland, Bury St Edmunds.
The bar is the second to be launched by Bacton-based gin distillery, Heart of Suffolk.
It will have a focus on local drinks producers.
Ryan Luke, managing director of Heart of Suffolk Distillery,” said: “It will be a modern speakeasy style bar with an extensive cocktail list, featuring our own spirits.
“We will also be showcasing local beers and wines too as we like to promote local companies.
“We have been looking at this building since November last year and its exciting to get under way.
“The decor will be speakeasy style with wraparound bench seating and comfy sofas, copper top bar, and actual still, which we will eventually use.
“It will seat around 40 people.”
Heart of Suffolk Distillery is run by Ryan Luke and Tom Mills.
The company has gone from strength-to-strength since its launch in 2018 - and the two bosses are keen to help other businesses through events and collaborations.
It now produces three award-winning London dry gins: Betty's, Rosie's and Ivy's alongside limited edition liqueurs.
The business has also grown from its original distillery in Finbow’s Yard, Stowmarket, to include a shop, events space and production unit. It employs eight staff.
It also held a drinks festival last weekend at the Unitarian Meeting House, Bury St Edmunds featuring its products as well as those of six other local breweries and distilleries, including Humber Doucy Brewing Company, Artefact Brewing, Shotley Vineyard, Suffolk Village Ciders, Drinkstones Ale and Norfolk Spirits.
The Secret Distillery is the company’s second bar.
It is at the site of the former St Distillery bar.
Last year, Heart of Suffolk also launched wine bar, Langams, as part of a joint collaboration with a former café, in Stowmarket.
