The singing teacher of vocal sensation Sam Smith is set to make a raunchy appearance at a Bury St Edmunds venue next week.

Joanna Eden will be performing in The Unbearable Pleasure of Being a Woman, a cabaret-style show, with fellow singer Leigh McDonald at the Hunter Club on November 27.

Joanna said: “My path is in singer-songwriting, but over the years I have collected these funny songs which don’t fit into my set.

“It is a take on the elements of being female, some of the taboos and the ridiculous things we ladies do.

“Some of the songs are really outrageous and some are a bit more poignant.”

Joanna, of Saffron Walden, has taught 23-year-old Smith, who sang the theme song for the latest Bond film Spectre, for 14 years.

Of her famous pupil she said: “It is a huge boost, venues who in the past had not heard of me are now taking me in. It’s a real door opener.

“Sam said he always wanted to be the sort of person who opened up to the audience, because that is what he admired about me.

“I never thought of myself as a good raconteur but he said with me, what you see is what you get.”
