Bury St Edmunds restaurant Casa in Risbygate Street shuts
A long-standing restaurant in Bury St Edmunds has shut.
Mediterranean eatery Casa has been based in the town since 2009, first in St John's Street before moving to larger premises in Risbygate Street in 2016.
Owner Maria Broadbent was chairman of the town's Our Bury St Edmunds Business Improvement District until recently.
Mark Cordell, chief executive of the BID, said the restaurant closed on Saturday.
He said: "I'm sad to see such a vibrant, invigorating and thriving business close which I know is down to a number of issues including increased costs, energy costs, reducing customers and restrictions on what Maria could do with the building."
Mr Cordell said that with the challenges business faced, there would be casualties.
"It's sad that this is one," he added.
Casa was approached for comment.
The building in Risbygate Street was previously the St Edmunds Tavern pub.
