Rushbrooke country estate goes on the market for £24 million
A country estate with 35 homes, 1,700 acres of land, an award-winning stud farm and two reservoirs has been put up for sale by the Rothschild family for £24 million.
The Rushbrooke Estate has been owned by one of Europe’s most famous families since 1938.
It has a principal farmhouse, two secondary farmhouses, staff cottages and 26 homes which supply ‘significant’ rental income and is available through Bidwells for £24 million – making it the one of the most expensive properties to come up for sale outside the south-east.
James Brooke, of Bidwells, said: “It is rare indeed to find a true estate that combines all the essential components: a high-quality commercial-farming enterprise, a successful private stud farm built up by generations of the same family, a substantial residential property portfolio and an informal family shoot, also with development potential.”
Most recently it has been home of James Rothschild, who is engaged to US socialite Nicky Hilton.
Home Farm, the estate’s 5,800sqft main home, has seven bedrooms, a drawing room, study, dining room, kitchen and utility room, two bathrooms, a swimming pool and tennis court.
The estate also has two reservoirs, which are used for irrigation.
