Bury Bowl gets new look as Claire and her team see growing customer numbers

Bury Bowl has reopened after a major refurbishment.

Heading up the team at the new look Eastgate Street Centre in Bury St Edmunds is manager Claire Gouge. A two week closure saw brand new bowling machines installed costing £250,000 plus re-painting to give the facility a fresh look.

Claire’s sister Kristy has joined the catering team to up the offer which provides home made meals including vegetarian and gluten free food.

Claire is also hoping that local art students will come forward to provide some original designs for the walls as the bowling alley reaches its 30th birthday in November.

Claire says already customer footfall in increasing.

She and her team have worked with employment and skills specialists Seetec who provided tailored on-site customer service training while Claire undertook a team leading qualification.

The training was provided free thanks to funding through the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership and the European Social Fund.

She said: “It was hard going back to studying but I found it really helpful. I learned how to develop my team, setting them objectives in the workplace, improving team performance and understanding stress and conflict management, meeting customers’ needs and providing quality service. We now have a fantastic team spirit.”

Bury Bowl will stage a celebration 30th birthday party on November 3.

It will close Monday to Wednesday next week for resurfacing the lanes.
