RAF Mildenhall conducts controlled detonation

A controlled detonation was conducted at RAF Mildenhall this afternoon.

The detonation at 4pm today was of unexploded munitions discovered during construction at the base.

A spokesman said a controlled detonation was 'the determined course of action to deem the area safe'.

He said: "RAF Mildenhall is committed to working together with our partners to ensure the safety of our people and the local community."
