A family's village hall fund raising Queen tribute band concert has received backing from the original group's guitarist Brian May.

Tony and Beckie Bayliss, from Stanningfield, organised the concert to raise money to towards stem cell treatment for their seven-year-old daughter Teigan, who has cerebral palsy, and were stunned to find Mr May had last week publicised it on his own website.

Tony admitted it was the kind of magic that gives the family a lift in their efforts to raise money and highlight the dangers of the simple act that led to Teigan's condition.

He said: "Teigan was kissed when she was only two weeks old by someone with cold sores on the lips.

"That gave her herpes meningitis that killed part of her brain and left her with the cerebral palsy."

The couple are events organisers and ask celebrities they meet to record videos explaining the dangers of kissing babies' faces.

They have just received one from ITV racing commentator Matt Chapman and Tony said: "You struggle to do the best for your children and when things like this come in it is does strike a cord that people want to help."

The concert is at Great Whelnetham Community Centre at 7pm on August 25 and is in aid of a fund raising effort the family call TeiganSmile, which is to fund her future care and stem cell treatment which Tony says could reverse her symptoms by up to 70 per cent.

The concert features the tribute band Real Magic and solo artist Adam Thomas. Tickets, at £14 for adults and £7 for children. You can book online at www.eventbrite.co.uk

The family also has a TeiganSmile Go Fund Me website here.
