Presents for children on Rainbow Ward in West Suffolk Hospital
Children at West Suffolk Hospital’s Rainbow Ward discovered it is never too late for Christmas presents when South Lee School dropped by.
Headmaster Mervyn Watch joined Julie Last, head of early years, to deliver the gifts which were bought from donations collected at their Christmas production.
The independent day school and nursery in Nowton Road, Bury St Edmunds, gathered £450, which was used to buy a Nintendo Switch game console and some LEGO.
Rainbow Ward cares for children with a wide range of illnesses and while the ward staff aim to make a child’s stay in hospital as short as possible, donations such as these will help maximise their comfort.
It caters for a population of around 50,000.
Mrs Last said: “It was really wonderful to support the local hospital.
“We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our parents. I hope the gifts that have been bought will be enjoyed.”
