Popular Bury St Edmunds bar, nightclub and restaurant The LP to close permanently due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions

A popular bar and nightclub in Bury St Edmunds town centre is to close permanently due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions.

The LP, in Woolhall Street, which is also a restaurant, is to shut after more than 10 years in the town.

Owner Mike Garling said last year 'proved to be a difficult year for many people'.

"Due to the continual and ongoing trading restrictions for late night venues since March 2020 it is with regret that The LP has to announce that it is closing permanently," he said.

"For more than 10 years we have had the privilege of being a focal point for the entertainment of the residents of Bury St Edmunds and beyond.

"We would like to thank all of those involved in the operation of the business and our customers for their loyal support.

"Please remember the good times you’ve had, and unite together to defeat the coronavirus.

"We will miss you all and wish you all the best for the future."
