Police to patrol Woolpit, near Bury St Edmunds, after spate of small fires




Police plan to step up patrols after reports of young people lighting fires in a Suffolk village.

Officers are aware of the small fires that have been lit around Woolpit, near Bury St Edmunds, over the last few weeks.

The most recent fire was reported on Sunday, where a pile of rubbish was set alight in a park close to the village community centre.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “Patrols in the area will be conducted where there is capacity.”
