Bury St Edmunds police search sees arrest made after man punched in face and officers called to Fen Way and Tayfen Road




A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a man was punched in the face in Bury St Edmunds.

Police were initially called to a report of a man, possibly in possession of a knife in Fen Way at 2.13pm. He then ran in the direction of the nearby Tayfen nature reserve.

Shortly after this officers found another man who had been hurt.

A police spokesman said he had been assaulted and suffered an injury to his face after reportedly being punched.

At 2.36pm police were then called to reports of a man acting aggressively in Tayfen Road.

After leaving the scene the suspect was found by officers inside an outbuilding nearby.

He was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and criminal damage and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre, where he remains.

The incidents are believed to be connected.
