Police search for man in Bury St Edmunds knife incident




Suffolk Police are appealing for the identification of a man who was involved in an incident in Northgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, on Friday, September 27.

While on patrol, at around 11.20pm, officers encountered a group of four men who were having an altercation in the street.

Two of them ran from the scene and the other two were arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

A temporary cordon was put in place while officers investigated the circumstances and two knives were recovered

A 17-year-old teenager was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, affray, assault and for possession with intent to supply. He was later released on police bail and is due to return on October 20.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and affray and a 30-year-old man, who originally ran from the scene and sustained a wound to the face, was later located and arrested on suspicion of affray.

Both were bailed and due to return to police on October 20 as well.
