Suffolk Police respond to social media reports of county lines operating in Stowmarket
Suffolk Police have responded to widespread social media reports regarding county lines activity in Stowmarket.
The stance was taken after a status claiming county lines were operating in the area of the new McDonalds was copied and shared widely on Facebook this week.
However, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesperson said today that while officers were aware of the social media reports, 'we are unable to corroborate any such activity currently having taken place'.
She added: "Officers have been to the site to discuss the issue with the manager and this engagement will continue over the next few days.
“We will always take a proactive approach to tackling and disrupting drug dealing and the issues associated with it.
“We always welcome information from members of the community in relation to drug activity – if you know of suspicious activity phone police on 101 and we will respond, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
