Police name 25-year-old Thetford murder victim as investigation continues




Police investigating a murder in Thetford have named the victim as David Lawal.

Officers on patrol on Thursday shortly after 7pm discovered members of the public providing first aid to Mr Lawal, 25, who had received stab wounds, on the side of Brandon Road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 8pm.

Cordons remained in place in the Brandon Road and Canon’s Close estate area and were removed last night (October 4).

Police have been granted a further 36 hours to question three men who were arrested in connection with the incident.

Another man who was arrested in connection with the incident has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

A spokesman said the investigation is 'ongoing'

He added: "Pending formal coroner’s inquest proceedings, police have provisionally identified the deceased as David Lawal.

"Officers still believe this to be an isolated incident with the suspects and victim known to each other."
